After completing my masters in civil and then petroleum engineering, I began my career in the oil and gas industry. Having initially worked for 10 years in the development of offshore deep water field in West Africa, I recently moved to a management position within a logistics company based in China. As I lacked the managerial training needed to accompany the growth of the company, I felt the need to improve my global management knowledge, which led to my pursuit of the HEC Paris EMBA.
To compliment my academic background and work experience, I chose the Energy major. Additionally, as my company is currently opening a new branch of activity related to the energy sector, I felt the major would provide me with the ideas and resources needed to prepare for this.
As for my EMBA Capstone project, I aim to reinvent the business model of my current company, which is evolving within an intensive and competitive market environment. The deployment of this business model could be a great opportunity to extend our business towards a higher value added and growing sector and mitigate our risk to remain attached to a less profitable sector.
In my opinion, the first module from the leadership course was the best as it was at this point that I realized that I was about to embark on a long journey of transformation. The Major in Doha was also a highlight of the course. It was such an amazing experience, the content of the courses and the quality of the speakers were second to none. It was also great to see the wonderful symbiosis that took place between the participants as at the time the only thing we had in common was our choice of major
Altogether, the EMBA has helped me gain confidence and a better understanding of my working environment. This has subsequently improved my job performance and given me the desire and courage to pursue new career prospects.
